Sustainable City 2100 Project

I think the purpose of this project is to learn about sustainability and try to reduce global warming in the future. Because lately, Global warming is beginning to be the doom of humankind if we keep polluting the Earth.

My role in the Sustainable City 2100 Project is waste management. As for waste management, I talked about the three changes that would help live more sustainability:

  1. Only recyclable plastics. Bloomington chose to only use recyclable plastics to reduce plastic waste and reduce a lot of plastic.  91% of plastics are not reused.

2. Roads from waste. Bloomington will use roads from waste to help reuse waste and turn it into fundamental roads. These roads are much more sustainable, durable and overall safer.

3. Reuse recycled lead. Bloomington recycles the lead in recycling and uses it in paint, batteries, jewelry and more and not polluting water.

The three main facts I learned in this project are:

  • That 91% of plastics are not recycled
  • Lead is put into daily used items
  • Reusable roads cost 5 million per kilometre
